Unboxing Experience
The phone is packaged in a sturdy green box with a lovely textured pattern. The included device specifications are listed on the box.
On opening the box, you will see the phone, there is a SIM tool for ejecting the SIM tray that can take two nano SIM cards and one memory card. A soft TPU case is also included in the box to protect the phone.
You will also see a 33W charger, A mandatory pair of earphones, and the USB-C to USB-A cable for charging and data transfer.
Design & Build Quality
The phone comes with a plastic screen protector already applied, which is easily scratchable. There’s nothing on the top edge.
On the right is the SIM tray port that takes the nano SIM card and one SD card. The bottom edge holds the speaker, the USB-C port for charging and data transfer, the microphone, and the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack.
By the right, you’ll find the volume keys and the flat power button, which is also the fingerprint sensor. On the back of the device are two camera rings with a flashlight on a flat surface, then some Infinix branding towards the bottom of the back. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with a water drop notch.
The Infinix Hot 30i weighs 191 grams and is only 8.4 millimeters thick, making it comfortable to handle for extended periods of time.
Display
The display is a 6.66-inch IPS LCD panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz. If you want to save battery life, you can switch back to 60 Hertz or have the system intelligently and adaptively switch between refresh rates.
The display is colorful and vivid. It manages to be sufficiently bright for outdoor use. Reaching for the corners may be somehow difficult because the screen is actually huge. The display quality is fantastic considering the price.
Processor & RAM & Internal Storage
The Infinix Hot 30i is powered by the MediaTek Helio G37, which is an 8-core processor built on a 12-nanometer process. Although it is sufficiently powerful to deliver fluid operation, gaming performance is lacking, and that is something to take note of.
The one we have here at Pricecondo is the 4GB RAM, 128GB RAM version, it comes with an extra 4GB of Virtual RAM which can be extended through Memfusion Technology.
In my own opinion, I think Memfusion works to an extent but is not significant enough to function like physical RAM. Infinix knows their users like numbers so they’ll market it well. Apart from these 4GB RAM+128GB and 4GB RAM+64GB versions, the Infinix Hot 30i also has an 8GB+128GB version.
Battery Capacity & Charging
The Infinix Hot 30i sports a 5000mAh battery with Power Marathon technology, which is set to sustain the power of the smartphone and ensure more than 25 hours of calling and a standby time of 30 days. The battery can take you for the whole day on average use.
The 10-watt charger that comes with the device can charge it from 0-100% in just 3 hours, this is one of the downsides of this particular device. In an era where most brands are rolling out fast charging on all their devices, Infinix still didn’t up their game on the charging of this device.
Software & UI
Another downside of this device is the software, at this price point, we are supposed to be getting Android 13 or 14 beta. But infinix still packaged this device with Android 12 running on XOS 12. Although the UI has some bloatware, some of them can be disabled or uninstalled.
In addition to other features, the phone has Peak Proof Eye Care, Focus Mode, and Kids Mode, as well as social media clone capabilities and gesture controls for music and calls.
Camera
The Infinix Hot 30i has a dual-camera setup with a 30-megapixel sensor and an auxiliary sensor. The camera has an AI mode on the primary sensor that recognizes the environment or the subjects and modifies the photo settings accordingly.
The Hot 30i’s front camera is an 8-megapixel camera that produces very decent selfies in natural light. The performance of the camera is what you should be expecting at this price point, I don’t think you should expect more because this device is not a camera-centric device.
Verdict
If you’re looking for a good smartphone that’s affordable, I recommend the Hot 30i. I have no complaints about this phone, especially considering its price. One of its best features is the 90Hz refresh rate. Let me know in the comment section if you are going to buy this device or not.
