CHECK OUT:

Design & Build Quality

When it comes to the looks and feel of this device, the Smart 5 is made from plastic, which is expected from an entry-level device.

On the right-hand side of the device, we’ve got the power button and the volume rocker keys. To the left, we’ve got a dual SIM tray with space for an expandable micro SD card.

At the bottom, we’ve got the headphone jack, a microphone, a micro USB charging port, and a speaker grille. At the rear of the device, we’ve got the dual camera setup and the fingerprint scanner with some LED flashlights.

The fingerprint scanner on the rear gets the job done. It is not fast and definitely not too slow for unlocking your device. Face unlock is there as well, just in case you want to use that one as well.

Display

The display on the Infinix Smart 5 is a 6.6-inch 720p IPS LCD panel, so there is nothing unusual here. It is suitable for watching YouTube videos and consuming other media content.

Processor & Performance

The MediaTek Helio A20 Chipset keeps daily tasks done with some noticeable performance drop, which is also expected on this type of device.

You’re not buying this device because it’s going to be a powerhouse. At ₦49,000, it is difficult to complain, considering the fact that you can barely find something decent at this price among its competitors. That’s a little jump in performance if we compare it to last year’s Smart 4 with just one 1GB of RAM.

Software

The Infinix Smart 5 comes with Android 10 Go Edition just to keep things on the lighter side, but that didn’t stop Infinix from doing the usual, which is bloatware. But some of the Bloatwares can be blocked and removed.

Battery

One area the Smart 5 really excels at has to be the 5,000 milliampere battery it comes with. It can take an average user up to 2 days on a single charge, considering the fact that the Smart 5 doesn’t have much to do. The 720p display doesn’t take so much from the battery, and the CPU itself doesn’t draw too much power.

The downside, though, is that the charger it comes with doesn’t support fast charging, so charging took more than three hours to charge from 0-100% percent.

Camera

The Smart 5 comes with an 8-megapixel camera with a QVGA camera that compensates for its computational photography. Then we have another 8-megapixel camera in front for selfies. You are definitely not buying the Smart 5 because you want it to be your photography powerhouse, but that doesn’t mean the Smart 5 doesn’t take average-looking pictures.

Verdict

Now, the real question is, who’s the Infinix Smart 5 for? I would say it is for those on a very tight budget, like when you don’t have any other choice and you just have to settle with this. Or if you want to use it as your backup device, if you have your main smartphone already and you want this as your backup device, I would highly recommend you get this.

Conclusion

Tell me what you think about the Infinix Smart 5. This is not a powerhouse device, this is just an entry-level device that is capable of making phone calls and saving your daily tasks, and that’s it. You shouldn’t buy this because you want it to be your daily driver unless you’re on a very tight budget, As I said earlier.
