The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is one of the new additions of Samsung to their Flagship club, and it’s my favourite among all the smartphones released this year.
It is similar to its predecessor the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with a large edge-to-edge cover display and a new hinge. The Flexible screen inside lets the phone collapse from a regular phone size to a small square shape.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Price In Nigeria
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 price in Nigeria is around ₦860,000 for the base version with 256GB, while the 512GB variant costs around ₦935,000.
Samsung has made the Flip 5 phone thinner and improved its build quality. They achieved this by designing a new hinge that eliminates the gap seen in previous foldable phones. The new design allows the phone to close completely flat, which helps prevent dust and particles from getting inside and damaging the foldable screen.
Samsung emphasizes the importance of protecting the inner display. The Flip 5 is also water-resistant with an IPX8 rating, meaning it can withstand being submerged in up to 1.5 meters depth of water for 30 minutes. However, it’s not specifically designed to resist dust. It’s worth noting that the phone doesn’t unfold completely flat at 180 degrees, and this might be due to the new hinge design but I’m not actually sure.
On the Z Flip 5, you get a 3.4-inch cover screen and a 6.7-inch inner display. They’re both good quality displays but the inner display is better spec. It’s a 1080p 120Hz AMOLED panel while the cover display is a 720p 60Hz Super AMOLED panel.
If you scroll your fingers on the display, you will feel the crease, it’s going to take some time before you can get used to it. The crease is something difficult to fix on a Foldable display but Samsung attempted to fix it on the Z Flip 5.
The crease was more noticeable and deeper on the predecessor, but with the new hinge, the crease was more shallow and a little less noticeable.
You get 1750 nits of peak brightness on this device, and the cover screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 12-megapixel camera on the outside for regular photos, another 12-megapixel camera for wider shots, and a 10-megapixel camera inside for selfies. The photo quality on the Flip 5 is still good, just as you would expect.
Processor, Storage, Sofware & UI
Samsung has made improvements to the processors in their latest foldable flagship phones. The Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 now have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors, the same ones found in the new flagship Galaxy S23 devices.
Samsung has also upgraded the base model for this year without changing the price. Instead of starting with 128GB of storage like last year, you now get 256GB of storage right from the beginning. Not only that, but the storage system is also better and faster, using UFS 4.0 technology, an improvement over the 3.1 in the Z Flip 4.
The Z Flip 5 also comes with Android 13 and their One UI 5.1.1 interface. Samsung Promised up to 5 years of software updates.
Battery Life & charging
The Z Flip 5 comes with a 3700mAh battery which isn’t that small, and I would say the battery life isn’t bad. The 25W Charging it comes with can actually charge this device from 0-100% in just 1hr.
The Samsung Z flip 5 is a very solid device, I really like the new hinge design from Samsung and I know so many other people will like it. The aesthetics have been refined in such a way that you will hardly look past it, especially if you are a flip fan.
I still maintain that the Z Flip 5 is my best device so far amongst all the Smartphones released this year. I think you should buy it, you are going to get the value of your money.
