Design & Build

The Infinix Hot 12 has a plastic rear, a plastic frame with a flat edge design, and glass at the front. It does not come with an IP rating, but if you dip it in water for a few seconds, it will not have any issues. But I’m not saying this so that you will dip it in water, I actually did the test don’t try it yourself.

It comes with a dual SIM card and memory card tray. At the top, there’s nothing. Moving to the right side, it has the volume and power buttons. The power button is also the fingerprint scanner, and it is very fast in unlocking this smartphone.

Going down to the bottom, there’s a 3.5 mm audio jack, a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and one of the speakers which sounds very well.

Display

It’s a large one at 6.82 inches, but it doesn’t feel big when you hold it. It’s an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 720 by 1612 pixels. It’s a 720p panel that has a refresh rate of 90 hertz and a touch sampling rate of 180 hertz.

The 90-hertz display refresh rate makes scrolling on this smartphone smooth, and moving around the user interface is fluid. For the quality of the display, I had to triple-check because it doesn’t look like a 720p display.

The colors look good on this display, but my major concern is the brightness level. you can barely see anything in the sun on this smartphone. This is the only downside I see in this smartphone compared to the competition out there at this price point.

Processor

Powering the Infinix Hot 12 is the MediaTek Helio G85 processor. It’s a 2-year-old gaming processor, but it is still standing tall, and it’s a capable budget gaming processor.

Gameplay

Most Infinix phones are good gaming phones, I wasn’t expecting much from Infinix at this price point in terms of gaming but they really surprised me.

For PUBG, it played the game at HD graphics and high frame rates. The gameplay was also good, and for a smoother gaming experience, you can change the graphics settings to balanced graphics and ultra-frame rates. Call of Duty ran well on this smartphone, although at medium graphics and a high frame rate.

Multitasking, RAM, Software & UI

Multitasking on the Infinix Hot 12 is very ok, It comes in either 4GB or 6GB of RAM but I’m not sure the 6GB version would be available in Nigeria just like I said earlier.

Using Memory Fusion, you can expand the 4GB RAM to 7 GB. Switching between apps is fluid on this smartphone. Launching apps is fluid, and when it comes to using apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok, it will run those apps easily.

The Software on the Infinix Hot 12 is Android 12 which is running on XOS 10.6. It has some bloatware, which is annoying, but you can disable or remove them.

Camera Quality & Video Recording

The front-facing camera has an 8-megapixel sensor, and it isn’t going to wow you. Although photos are possible, portrait shots are decent as well.

It has an 18-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera, and a QVGA camera. Photos taken with the main camera look decent. They’re not that vibrant, but they look good. The portrait shots look amazing and have good details.

Battery Life & Charging

The Hot 12 comes with a 5,00mAh battery, and it will last the entire day on average use. For the charging time using the 18-watt fast charger, it will take 1hr and 42 minutes to charge this smartphone from 0-100%.

Conclusion

The Build quality of this device is amazing, Infinix surprised me on this one. I think this smartphone is worth recommending considering the Value you are getting at this pricepoint. Only a few competitors out there can offer this type of value for your money.
